FOUNDER OF URBAN FIDUCIARIES

Straight from the Source

Urban Fiduciaries was formed by Vanita Jones, who has spent years problem solving, negotiating, managing finances, properties and affairs, and working tirelessly for those she represents. While Vanita’s well-rounded experiences have uniquely prepared her for a career as a Private Professional Fiduciary, her character is her true calling card. Vanita is attentive to her clients and to details; she exercises considerable care when balancing the interests of all parties; and, she abides by the highest honor of the fiduciary profession

.

Professional Experience

In addition to serving as a Professional Fiduciary, for nearly 30 years, Vanita has represented clients in various sales professions having a significant fiduciary component, including Realtor, financial advisor and insurance agent. As a Realtor, Vanita primarily represented first-time homebuyers streamlining the sales process, negotiating on their behalf and protecting their financial and personal interests.  As a financial advisor, she consulted with individuals on the diversification of their retirement portfolios to maximize value and minimize risk. As an insurance agent, she advised clients on coverage to protect their valuable assets. Her advice to clients has always been guided by their desires and their best interests.

Vanita’s varied professional experiences are a distinctive benefit to her Private Professional Fiduciary clients. These experiences are as follows:

  • As an account executive, Vanita’s experiences honed her ability to review and negotiate contracts, manage clients, resolve conflicts, document circumstances, and manage finances;

  • As a wholesale mortgage representative, she became proficient on home loan programs;

  • As an assistant to an attorney who acted as receiver, she organized and documented multiple tasks and logged time spent on each;

  • As a restaurant owner, Vanita managed the business’ finances, it’s employees, on-going operations (e.g. inventory, scheduling, meeting regulatory standards, customer service);

  • As an adjunct professor with Santa Monica College, she taught The Principles of Accounting and Computer Skills (e.g. Windows, Excel, Word, Access); and

  • For more than 20 years, Vanita has managed a small multi-unit property.

Education

GENERAL & ADVANCED

Vanita, a Los Angeles native, ventured to the east coast to attend Smith College in Northampton, MA, where she earned her undergraduate degree in psychology and education. Her studies in psychology developed an understanding of how people think and behave, hence, sharpening her interpersonal skills and her conflict-resolution skills.

After college, Vanita quickly advanced in her career to become VP of Sales & Marketing with a sizable messenger and attorney service; she managed the sales and customer services for the majority of the firm’s clients. While working full time, Vanita attended the University of Southern California in the evenings and earned her Master in Business Administration with an emphasis in finance.

Vanita completed her education as an Emergency Medical Technician and earned an internship at Brotman Memorial Hospital.

FIDUCIARY

Vanita completed the required courses of study through the University of California at Riverside to become a Certified California Licensed Professional Fiduciary.

Volunteer Experience

Vanita served as the Southern Region President and Vice President of the Professional Fiduciary Association of California. In addition, she has volunteered for several years on the Education Committee and Diversity Committee.

Vanita served for five years on the Board of Trustees for WNS, a K-8 private independent school. She also held the position as secretary of the Board. Additionally, she volunteered as a fundraiser for a combined 13 years for WNS and Harvard-Westlake Middle and High Schools.

Personal

On a personal note, Vanita was fortunate to grow up in the company of her grandmother and grandfather. As an adult, she watched their dreams shatter when her grandfather took seriously ill soon after retirement, and for many years, watched her grandmother endure medical challenges, including Alzheimer’s. Unlike many others, her grandparents were fortunate to have family available to manage their care. Knowing that not everyone has someone available in their time of need, Vanita vowed to serve those reliant on others for their financial or health matters, and to do so in a manner that would preserve dignity and improve lives.
